ADVANCED Micro Devices Inc, the world's No. 2 computer chipmaker, claimed it is snaring market share from arch rival Intel Corp in China via tieups with personal computer makers Lenovo Group Ltd and Hewlett Packard Inc.

AMD said it will expand market share in the global market because it is talking with Lenovo to adopt AMD CPU (central processing unit) chip on formerly IBM-branded desktops.

"The low price and advanced dual-core technology of products are helping us win more partners and market shares," Pan Xiaoming, an official at AMD China, said at a press conference in Hangzhou over the weekend.

More than 70 percent of HP's personal computers sold in China use AMD's CPU chips and 85 percent of Lenovo's desktop computers have AMD's chips, said Pan, who, however, didn't mention AMD's market share.
In the IT retail markets in 30 major Chinese cities, AMD captured 35 percent of the market in March based on sales in the desktop computer sector against 29 percent a year ago, said retail industry survey firm GFK.

In the past year, AMD banded with Lenovo and Tsinghua Tongfang Computer in the PC sector and with Dawning (Shuguang) Computers in the computer server sector in China.

AMD's market share will grow to 30 percent in the next one or two years from last year's 18 percent, Rose Wang, AMD China's marketing director, said in a previous interview.

A year ago, Intel occupied more than 85 percent of the domestic market and it still dominates the high-margin laptop chip segment, according to Li Ke, an analyst at Beijing-based CCID Consulting, a research firm under the Ministry of Information Industry.

"On the enterprise user and laptop sector, it needs more time to cultivate. They won't change choices immediately," said Pan.

The revenue of Chinese computer chips is set for 46.9 billion yuan this year, CCID said.

另外，AMD的股票价格在过去一年上升了一倍，而Intel下降了1/3。

HP自由人系列很早就开始用AMD的处理器了，最早的939散龙就在这里...不过东西一般，冲一下3999，4999市场而已。

AMD有什么不好。主频低点就代表性能也低吗？去看看INT搞出来的CORE，主频还不是垃圾。还不是靠改良构架之类的方法提升性能。

INTEL的CORE可以上到4.7G。AMD行吗？
AMD现在在桌面和移动方面和INTEL比功耗、性能、制程没一样是领先的。

现在领先吧，下个月底才不领先，而且领先了不少日子了，而且要记得现在AMD是90对65,65对65性能提高20％还是正常的

制程提高和性能提高没什么关系吧？130nm的Athlon和90nm的又有什么差距呢？架构上的改良，这一句实在不能认同，能上高频也是架构实现的，是不是好架构，应该看综合性能，或是最终能达到的性能高度，一味看单位频率所代表的性能没用。
