Our installation DVD are tailored towards HTPC applications and provide you maximum Linux support. The Fedora 5 based Installation DVD come pre-configured for the Lx8100 and systems based on ASUS A8N VM CSM Motherboard. Prorietary NVIDIA drivers and LIRC, sensors, ALSA, ACPI, hardware accelerated MPEG(XvMC), ethernet are pre-configured and ready to go. The bootable Installation DVD will partition, format and install a complete Fedora 5 installation with drivers. Insert the DVD in your DVD drive, boot and have a ready to go Fedora 5 system in as little as 25 minutes. Detailed Look
NVIDIA drivers
NVIDIA driver are pre-installed and ready to go. TV-out with overscan correction is supported by nvidia driver. Composite extension are supported and enabled by default.
TV-Time
TV-Time is part of the Installation and recovery DVD and many LIRC key bindings are connected. In addition, the latest V4l drivers have been installed. Asus and Kworld Terminator TV Capture cards support is provided by updated V4L drivers.
Audio script for digital loopback through sox are included.
KDETV
In addtion to TV-Time, support for KDE-TV is provided with many LIRC keybinding.
KRadio
KRadio for listening to FM/AM Radio with an optional TV/Radio capture card, with LIRC bindings.
OpenOffice 2.0
A version of OpenOffice is part of the installation DVD. Shown here with X composite extensions enabled.
digiKam

Recovery DVD
Installation for ASUS A8N VM CSM based systems becomes a snap with the recovery DVD. In as little as 25 minutes you have a fully configured system with graphics, network, sound, USB and many applications.
Our installation/Recovery DVD are based on Mondo and will partition, format and install a pre-configured Fedora 5 installation onto your hard disk drive with all drivers and applications installed. No need to install rpms or download addtional drivers.

Boot from the Linux DVD
The iInstallation boots into a 2.6.16 kernel. Just type "nuke" and confirm the hard disk drive formatting and partitioning and depending on your DVD drive, your system will be ready in as little as 25 minutes.

FAQ
I see in the screen shots, that the Composite extensions are working. Are they stable ?
We enable the composite extension by default in one of the pre-configured user accounts. When using applications that use the X video extensions we recommend to turn the composite extension extensions off. Please go to our support side for instructions.
What file system does the installation DVD create ?
By default your system will be installed with LVM and a journaling filesystem. The installation DVD will partition the drive into a boot and LVM partition, with the volume group being divided into the root file system and a swap file system. Because we are using LVM you can easily make changes.
Why Mondo as an Installation DVD ?
Mondo is text-based bare bone recovery tool that is ideally suited for the installation of system where the graphic card might create problems with graphical installer.
Why not use an rpm based driver DVD ?
It just adds a layer of complexity that doesn't exist with our installation DVD. An rpm-based install would require a Fedora Core 5 installation (25 minutes), followed by an update with yum (30-120 minutes) after which the driver would have to be installed (5-10 minutes) and additional applications would have to be installed with yumex (like LFightGear, another 2 hours).
Our Install and Recovery DVD can be installed in as little as 25 minutes after which the sytem is fully configured.
How much space is required on the HD ?
The DVD contains rougly 5.5GB of data.
How can I update or download new software ?
Use Yumxx or yum. We have have pre-configured many rpm repositories. And Installing a new piece of software can very often be as easy as, "yum install mythical_software".
We already installed many common development tools, allowing you to compile new drivers. Check out code from CVS, HG or SV.
Why don't you call your Installtion DVD a Linux distribution ?
In a sense, our installation DVD is a distribution that is hardware specific, therefore, our installation doesn't meet the traditional definition of a distribution.
Why Fedora, why not Ubuntu or Gento or Mandriva ?
We are working towards supporting Ubuntu with an additional installation DVD on future systems. Mandriva is already supported on some of our systems. In this case our insatllation DVD is not required as Mandriva already supports many of the application drivers on our installation DVD.
How is LIRC configured ?
LIRC is configured for Com1 and .lirc_serial, lircd, lircmd and irexec are running by default. Under KDE irkick has been configured for applications like KDE-TV. TV-Time uses irexec.
Can I control KDETV, KRadio with a remote control ?
Yes, although not all keybinding are configured, many are.

Why do you include FlightGear ?
FlightGear is a wondeful flight simulator that can show off the NVIDIA® GPU.
I didn't buy my sytsem from LixSystems, can I still download the ISO for the Installation DVD?
Sure. The installation DVD should be able to install correctly on the ASUS®A8N VN CSM. Go to the support section and dowload it. The support section provides a short manual that will provide some important information, like user anmes and passwords for the default account. Please review it.
Can I install from a USB DVD drive ?
In many cases, yes. We have tested installation via several USB DVD drives, without any problems, but have not tested nearly enough.
Do you have support for MP3, WMA, etc. ...?
No, we only support open codes. You can get legal MP3 support for gestremaer based applications from

How difficult will it be to get TV capture running ?
If you go to our online store you will find many TV capture cards that are compatible with our system configuration. In general saa7134 cards are inexpensive and work well.
