3DLabs cards (including the entire Wildcat VP range) are developed for
professional AEC, MCAD and DCC use, not 3D gaming. The cards are
specifically optimized and configured primarily for OpenGL API
acceleration, supporting features which are important to AEC, MCAD and
DCC, providing application specific support for 3D tools like Maya, 3DS
Max, SolidWorks, Pro Engineer, etc.
However the cards are not designed and optimized for gaming and even
lack certain features that many contemporary games require (and that
mainstream gaming cards offer). For example, the Wildcat VP cards offer
no hardware DirectX 9.0 acceleration and no AGP Texture acceleration.
Even though certain game titles will work on 3DLabs cards, many games
will either not function at all or at limited functionality, since the
card may lack hardware optimizations required by the game developer.
